INTERNATIONAL TRADE TOOL
WORK OUT IMPORT DUTIES AND TAXES FOR YOU PRODUCTS
Overseas duties and taxes can have a big impact on the landed cost of products into another country. Also, due to the fact that imports are not only calculated on the products but on the shipping and insurance in most cases, then being able to know these costs can help formulate a competitive export pricing strategy. Price is a huge factor in winning business, especially overseas, so the more information you have, the easier it is to be competitive whilst maintaining profitability. The International Trade Tool provides this and calculates the landed cost based on the individual countries method of valuation for import.
CHECK OVERSEAS TARIFF CODES AND DESCRIPTIONS
The Harmonised System Code which is issued by the World Customs Organisation is the first 6 digits of your Tariff Code. The rest of the digits are set locally by each country or trading region, so they can change from the exporting country to the importing which can impact on import duties and taxes. Also, the descriptions may be different, which again could impact on the landed cost of your products. The International Trade Tool will enable you to look at the different Tariff Codes and Descriptions for all the products listed in the countries own tariff codes and searchable either by HS Code or description.
WHAT IMPORT AND EXPORT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED
A common question is what documents do I need to import into a certain country. The Import Documents section has been designed specifically for each countries requirements. So you can view what standard documents are required and any specific to that country. There will always be product specific documents of which descriptions are provided of what they are and what they cover. You can also look at example documents which are provided to help understand the format and content requirements.
ARE THERE ANY PRODUCT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
There are also many product specific regulations that need to be adhered to. In the Country Section of the International Trade Tool you will find Packaging and Labelling requirements. Also, information relation to prohibited, restricted and controlled goods. You can see which countries have trade agreements with each other and where applicable import procedures and customs special procedures, which can all save money on imports. All this information is constantly updated to help you understand the requirements for each country listed.

SHIPMENT RISK AND COST SO CHECK YOUR INCOTERMS
What is my risk for a shipment? What costs am I liable for? Who pays if the goods get stuck in customs? Common questions and issues that arise during the shipment of products round the world. In international trade you want to avoid "additional costs" as these cannot be accounted for and come off any profit or margin to be made. Therefore, fully understanding your obligation for each shipment is hugely important. You can view the detailed Incoterms section which outlines all the costs, risks and obligations for each term in the latest 2020 version. Still not sure, then use the Helpdesk to ask any specifics.
MULTIPLE SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
We offer a range of subscriptions in GB Pounds, US Dollars and EUROS. The subscriptions can either be annually or monthly. You can save 20% by taking out the annual subscription over the monthly option. There are no restrictions to any service once the subscription is paid for and you do have the option to cancel at any time. We estimate that one employees time to research the information for one product into one country in one week would cover the cost of the subscription, without the additional services on offer here. Using a consultancy, then the annual subscription cost would be used in 1 day in most cases.
