CHECK OVERSEAS TARIFF CODES AND DESCRIPTIONS
The Harmonised System Code which is issued by the World Customs Organisation is the first 6 digits of your Tariff Code. The rest of the digits are set locally by each country or trading region, so they can change from the exporting country to the importing which can impact on import duties and taxes. Also, the descriptions may be different, which again could impact on the landed cost of your products. The International Trade Tool will enable you to look at the different Tariff Codes and Descriptions for all the products listed in the countries own tariff codes and searchable either by HS Code or description.
WHAT IMPORT AND EXPORT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED
A common question is what documents do I need to import into a certain country. The Import Documents section has been designed specifically for each countries requirements. So you can view what standard documents are required and any specific to that country. There will always be product specific documents of which descriptions are provided of what they are and what they cover. You can also look at example documents which are provided to help understand the format and content requirements.
ARE THERE ANY PRODUCT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
There are also many product specific regulations that need to be adhered to. In the Country Section of the International Trade Tool you will find Packaging and Labelling requirements. Also, information relation to prohibited, restricted and controlled goods. You can see which countries have trade agreements with each other and where applicable import procedures and customs special procedures, which can all save money on imports. All this information is constantly updated to help you understand the requirements for each country listed.
